Reasons to be Cheerful

Today is a difficult day.  I need to remind myself that although there are some negatives I have to look at the positives.

Negative 1 - I'm still sleep deprived due to baby penguin waking every two hours in the night - wind, hungry...I do not know I'm just too tired to work it out!
Positive 1 -  She is starting to roll, her neck muscles are getting stonger so loving to sit upright and she is such a happy easy baby during the day! She is gorgeous, healthy and perfect.  Need I say more!

Negative 2 - Potty training toddler penguin sucks!  This is definitely the hardest thing as a parent I've come across so far. I know that he can do it but it just frustrates me so much when he wets himself.  I know I shouldn't go backwards but I've put him back in nappies and I'm going to leave the potty training for another week or so.  I need to get through these sleepless nights first!
Positive 2 - Toddler penguin started nursery this morning!  He was so excited about going and looked fab in his "uniform".  I really enjoyed sewing in the name labels last night....yes I know iron on ones are easier but I wanted to sew!

Negative 3 - today 8 years ago my daddy passed away. I was 23 years old and still in my mind a child. You never get over losing a parent. In our house move 13 months ago we've managed to lose the photo album that I have of my dad.  We've searched through every box in the loft this week and its nowhere to be seen.  I am gutted if its lost.  I wish he was here to see his two amazing grandkids growing up!
Positive 3 - We live where we live in a lovely house because I inherited my dads everything....still I would rather have him around.....
Me and my daddy when I was a baby
Going to go and pick toddler penguin up from nursery now and spend the afternoon with my amazing kids who make me cheerful and laugh everyday!

Its only 6 inches.....

Our new King Size bed got delievered last month and last week we finally got our king size mattress!  There may only be 6 inches between a double and a king but this morning we sure noticed the difference.

I'm a bit sleep deprived at the moment as baby penguin (4 months old) is still waking quite a bit in the night. In our old mattress I was getting a very sore back from cosleeping during the night feeds.  The back pain has gone which is such a relief.  Last night, well this morning toddler penguin wondered in somewhere between 4am and 5am.  Baby penguin was back in her crib (we have the Bed Nest) and I vaguely remember toddler penguin getting into bed with me but at what time I'm not sure.  515am baby penguin wakes up screaming out her windy pain, I have toddler penguin in my arms and I manage to lift baby penguin on top of me for a cuddle. Cue screams because she wants boob not cuddles.  This wakes toddler penguin up and he thinks its morning.  Does any of this wake papa penguin up.....nope not at all.  Till I give him a thump and ask him to help me getting the kids into the middle so I can feed baby penguin.

Silence.....and space!  Neither of us had our butts hanging out the bed getting cold and moaning who has stolen the quilt.   We actually managed to get back to sleep....though only till 545am when papa penguins' alarm went off.

Early night tonight!

Product Review - Vanish Oxi Action Crystal White

I haven't been asked to do this review but I just wanted to share this product with everyone else as I think its amazing!

Having had two kids I've used quite a lot of stain removal products for various stains; poo, strawberries, chocolate, mud, spag bol; the list is endless! I find baby poo the hardest to get rid of as it is soooo yellow and really seeps through the clothes as it is so runny.

So before you keep reading, please be warned....this blog post contains pictures of poo! You have been warned!

So baby penguin suffers really bad from trapped wind and the like and in order to be happy she needs to do a poo at least once a day.  Toddler penguin was like this too.  However if she doesn't go one day you can guarantee the next day it will be explosive! One morning having not managed to change her night nappy yet she did a lovely explosive one in her white babygrow.  One of my favourites as it has little penguins on! Here's the evidence....

I didn't get to it straight away as I was dealing with toddler penguin and a potty incident but as soon as I could I got her out of her clothes and chucked them in the utility room. About an hour later I dug out my tub of Vanish.

The Vanish tub comes with a "Treat & Go Rubbing Scoop" which has knobbly bits at the bottom of the scoop for you to work the Vanish into the fabric with.  I put a bit of vanish powder into the scoop and then a tiny bit of warm water and swirled around. This mixture was then poured onto the poo stain and rubbed in with the bottom of the scoop as shown in the picture below.

The babygrow along with a lights washload was put in the machine on a 40 degree cotton wash but with a timer delay of 2 hours as we were going out.  The tub says not to soak for more than 6 hours. After washing I hung up to dry then like a normally do when the clothes are very nearly dry I bung them in the tumble dryer for 30 mins to soften them up and then fold and put away.  Stain had completely come out! Not even a ring mark left behind!
Before & After
This product actually works!  I love it!

Disclaimer: This is my own personal review. I have not been asked to carry out this review nor have I been paid to do so. Please make sure you read the instructions before carrying out any stain removal yourself.

Reasons to be Cheerful

I write this post with match sticks holding my eyelids open!  Three nights in a row baby penguin has been up every two hours :( however as soon as I pick her up from her cot she gives me a beaming smile which weirdly makes it all worthwhile!

I visited my mum at the weekend and put on a stone!  Haha ok not so much a stone, infact I gained a pound since last week but Mmmmmmm it was worth it.  We had profitoroles, victoria sponge, ferrero rocher cupcakes for afternoon tea and pudding, and a most amazing chicken pie and roasties for dinner Sunday night. Thanks mum!

We decided to get a quote for having our driveway done....3 days later it was finish and wow I love it.  No more gravel spilling onto the road.  No more patchy bits.  And no more random weed bushes growing through. I really wish we had got it done sooner, I can't believe how quickly it was done!  Now just to keep it clean.  I have swept it every day...wonder how long I'll keep that up for!

Our new king size bed finally arrived and its lush.  The mattress is just sooo comfy.  Oh to get a good full nights sleep on it! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Reasons to be Cheerful

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

We aren't doing anythng special, just cards and having our favourite pasta meal! Maybe we'll put a nice film on after the kids have gone to bed.....however i have a stack of ironing to do :(

These are the cards the kids made for papa penguin.

It was this week last year that I found out I was pregnant....I can't believe how fast my pregnancy went and baby penguin will be four months this weekend! Took a picture this morning of her in one of toddler penguin's pyjamas from when he was a baby. I love comparing them!

Pancake day was fun...we didn't make any last year as I was suffering from evening nausea. Toddler penguin loved his cheese and ham ones, not a fan of my fave lemon and sugar, but loved nutella pancakes!

Roll on the weekend as we're seeing Grandma penguin!!!!

Wobbles Wednesday

I am still loving my new scales, digital are so much easier to read than the old ones where if I leant backwards they made meweigh less!

I'm really shocked that I've lost weight, maybe because I didn't do my weekly weigh and I feel as though I've eaten loads.  I made combat this week and loved every minute of it.  Yesterday my upper abs were hurting everytime I laughed.  Got to be a good thing. I've got a step counter machine thingy and its interesting to see how many steps I do each day.  I walked loads on Monday and turned out to only be 9,000 steps, I was pretty disappointed considering it is recommended you should do 10,000!  On an average day walking to playgroup and round the house it seems I do about 7,000-8,000. I'm going out in the car later this week so will be interesting to see how many I don't do!

Original Weight  74kg (163lbs)
Goal Weight  63kg (139lbs)
Two Weeks Ago  69.3kg (152lbs)
Today's Weight68.1kg (150lbs)

Reasons to be Cheerful

Wow its February already! Time is flying by. Baby penguin is 16 weeks now and having had her weighed yesterday at the clinic she is gaining weight perfectly. Its so reassuring when exclusively breastfeeding as i have no idea how much she is taking in! However bad mummy alert...I forgot to book her in for her 16 week jabs and as a result they are booked up this week so have to wait a week.

Toddler penguin is 2 ¾ years old and has sooooo much energy.  I've been putting on music in the afternoons and dancing around the playroom with him to wear him out! Bonus is its burning calories for me! Shame I have an addiction to sugar!

Baby penguin started rolling on to her sides this week and reaching for toys! I remember these little milestones with toddler penguin when he was a baby....I forgot about how exciting they are!

Roll on the weekend....I need a lie in!!!!!
